Target 2027, the Government is Considering Installing Solar Power Plants Along the Java Toll Road

JAKARTA - The government is known to be developing plans to install a solar power plant (PLTS) along the Java Island toll road.

Acting Director General of Electricity (Dirjen Gatrik) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tri Winarno, said that his party was currently conducting a study on the use of areas around toll roads. Later, this project will only be implemented in 2027.

"This year is being exercised. Well, next year will be executed," Tri told the media crew, quoted by Saturday, August 8.

Tri explained that the use of this toll road is an option to support the concept of a green area.

Tri also said that the previous government had asked for a study on the potential capacity of PLTS if solar panel installations were developed along toll roads on the island of Java.

"If the entire toll of Java is there, how much can it be. Let's green," he said.

For the initial phase, the development of the PLTS will be carried out in the Bali Mandara toll road area. Solar panels are planned to be installed on the roadside area of the toll road. For information, the installation of PLTS on this toll road is the initial phase of the 100 Gigawatt (GW) Solar Power Plant (PLTS) project.

In addition to Bali, another location that is being prepared is Jalan Tol Prof. Dr. Ir. Sedyatmo which connects Jakarta with Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"It will be installed later. There are also plans later at (toll) Sedyatmo who want to go to Soetta," said Tri.
