Police Arrest Captain Curanmor and His Complicit After Stealing a Motorcycle in Penjaringan

JAKARTA - The Metro Penjaringan Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested the motor vehicle theft captain (curanmor) with the initials HPP in the Hari-hari Bridge area, Kapuk Muara, North Jakarta.

The arrest of the suspect was carried out after the HPP along with his accomplices carried out a motor theft in the Penjaringan area.

After arresting the suspect HPP, the police also managed to arrest his accomplices with the initials A alias E, AS alias Y, TT, and H separately. They are one group of Penjaringan curanmor network.

"Our perpetrator was arrested in the Hari-Hari Bridge area, Kapuk Muara, North Jakarta, two days after launching the action. This theft action began when the victim parked a Yamaha Mio J motorcycle in front of his stall," said the Head of the Penjaringan Police, AKBP Agta Buana, when confirmed, Saturday, August 8.

However, when the victim woke up from his sleep, the motorcycle had disappeared.

"Based on CCTV footage around the location, it is seen that a man took the vehicle away," he said.

The victim then reported this incident to the Metro Penjaringan Police.

The victim's report was then investigated by the Metro Penjaringan Police Criminal Investigation Unit. From the results of CCTV footage and field investigations, the police were able to identify the captain of the motorcycle theft with the initials HPP.

Furthermore, the Penjaringan Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to arrest the suspect HPP. The case was then developed by the police to dismantle his group's network in Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

"Based on the examination, the suspect had hidden the stolen motorcycle in RPTRA Kalijodo before finally selling it to a dealer with the initials A alias E for Rp1.150.000 with the help of several of his colleagues," said Metro Penjaringan Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Sampson Sosa Hutapea, confirmed separately.

From the sale, the money was distributed to the HPP for Rp. 500,000, and the rest was distributed to other parties involved in helping the sales process.

"All the networks involved, namely A alias E, AS alias Y, TT, and H were also arrested separately," said the investigator.

Meanwhile, the evidence seized was one unit of Yamaha Mio J motorcycle, STNK, key, CCTV footage, and two mobile phones.

For his actions, the main suspect of HPP was charged with Article 476 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the other perpetrators who helped and hid the stolen goods were charged with Article 591 letter a of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 21 (1) letter a and b of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of 4 years in prison.
