Deadly Shooting at Thai School, PM Anutin Mourns

JAKARTA - Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed deep sorrow over the deadly shooting incident at a school carried out by students. The shooting resulted in a number of teachers and students being killed by bullets.

"I am very sad about this incident. I am not only sad for the victims, but also sad because incidents like this can happen in our country," he said as reported by CNN, Friday, August 7.

"I have sent officials to the scene. This is terrible, this should not have happened," he continued.

Anutin said the incident showed the government's strong basis for not allowing the expansion of gun ownership.

Meanwhile, the student who carried out the deadly shooting at a Thai school is confirmed to have committed suicide.

"I confirm that he decided to end his own life," Anutin said.

Previously, the perpetrator was in critical condition after the shooting incident at Debsirin Nonthaburi School, near Bangkok, and had received emergency treatment from a medical team.

According to the police, the perpetrator first killed his grandparents at his residence. The shooting was carried out using the perpetrator's grandfather's gun.

From home, the student went to school and then shot blindly. 3 teachers and 3 students were killed temporarily.
