Ministry of Health: BPJS Patient Viral Waiting for 8 Hours of Treatment because HCU RSCM is Limited
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) said that BPJS Health patients who went viral on social media had to wait for eight hours at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) because they needed High Care Unit (HCU) space which was limited in number.
Director General (Dirjen) of Continuing Health of the Ministry of Health Azhar Jaya said RSCM is a national referral center, so it is very likely that the hospital is full.
"But whether to wait eight hours depends on the situation, if it is empty, it will be faster than that," he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 7.
Azhar said the deceased BPJS Health patient had a disease that could not be mentioned accompanied by violence. The family, he said, also understood the case.
Previously, a BPJS Health patient, Yusrizal, wrote about his experience waiting for a treatment room on the social media Threads. He admitted that he had not received a room after eight hours in the hospital.
The upload was answered with negative comments and even verbal bullying by a number of accounts whose owners were later known to be working as health workers. The comments then received public attention.
The Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasized that health workers (nakes) as servants of the community should not be empathic, especially to patients who are sick.
"I think all professions that serve the public, especially health workers, cannot have such a non-empathetic person," said Coordinating Minister for Food and Agriculture Budi Karya Sumadi when met at the Coordinating Ministry for Food and Agriculture Office, Jakarta, Thursday (7/8).
The Minister of Health Budi conveyed this in response to the viral comments of a number of health workers regarding the upload of a BPJS Health patient.
The Indonesian Health Council said it had identified 10 health workers and medical personnel who were suspected of commenting on the deceased National Health Insurance (JKN) participants on social media and would conduct further investigations.
"There are civil servants, there are PPDS, there are general practitioners, private ones, nurses are also in the private sector, dentists are also private. Well, this hospital, how we said earlier, the supervision and supervision at the location where they work is their responsibility as well," said KKI Member dr. Mohammad Syahril.
Syahril said his party would conduct an investigation with professional organizations, educational institutions, health facilities, local governments, to determine the type of violation committed, whether it was a violation of ethics, professional discipline, or a violation of the law.
"As the investigation progresses, there is the potential for more health workers and medical personnel to be identified who are suspected of sending non-empathetic comments to the deceased JKN participants," he continued.
"Well, what is the punishment, the punishment is as regulated in the rules. There are reprimands, then continued with coaching. Coaching is various, whether he asks to follow the education again related to the ethics of each profession, then there is again with a written reprimand," he said.
