The discovery of Firearms and Other Items at a South Jakarta School, the DPR asks for a thorough investigation
Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives TB Hasanuddin asked law enforcement officials to investigate the case of the discovery of 995 firearms, narcotics, and pornographic VCD pieces in a private school room in the Kebayoran Lama area, Jakarta.
According to him, the findings are a very serious issue because it concerns the security of the country as well as the safety of the community. The case of possession of hundreds of firearms by civilians should not be considered a normal thing.
"A total of 995 firearms is not a small number. The possession of such a large number of weapons indicates that there are procedures that are suspected to have been violated, because it is impossible for someone to legally own weapons in such large quantities," said Hasanuddin in Jakarta, Friday.
Apart from firearms, according to him, the discovery of narcotics in the case was also a suspected criminal act that must be processed seriously in accordance with applicable laws.
"Firearms that fall into the hands of irresponsible parties can endanger the community and even threaten the security of the country. Likewise with narcotics, which must be investigated to find out the purpose of ownership and the network of circulation," he said.
He also asked investigators not to stop at the seizure of evidence, but also to trace the origin of all firearms and narcotics, including the parties involved in their storage and possession.
"The authorities need to find out where the firearms came from, how they could be stored in a school environment, where the narcotics were obtained, and who is responsible," he said.
In addition, Hasanuddin emphasized that the foundation's managers and school managers must also be questioned to determine whether there is knowledge or suspicion of involvement in the existence of these items.
"Of course it needs to be investigated whether the foundation's managers and school managers know the existence of these items. All facts must be opened transparently through the investigation and investigation process," he said.
Previously, as many as 995 firearms, pornographic video CDs, and drugs were found in a closed room at a private school located in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
"We have found some weapons. Including, we also found drugs, and porn CDs," said the lawyer for the private school foundation, Hermawanto at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Thursday (6/8).
Hermawanto said that in July, precisely Friday (10/7), his party found 995 firearms, ammunition, and also several other weapon accessories.
Then, on Wednesday (5/8) last, his party again found several weapons, marijuana and methamphetamine drugs, as well as pornographic VCDs. Until finally his party decided to contact the South Jakarta Metro Police.
