Prabowo asks for increased research investment, the budget has not been discussed

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has asked for investment in research and innovation to be increased. However, the government has not discussed the amount of budget that will be prepared.

Special Presidential Advisor for Communication Hasan Nasbi said Prabowo considers the mastery of science, technology, and innovation as a requirement for the country to advance.

"The President's commitment is clear that a developed nation must be a nation that masters science, technology, and innovation. For this reason, we must invest more there," said Hasan at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, August 6.

According to Hasan, Prabowo places research and innovation as a long-term investment for Indonesia's future.

"His commitment that this research and innovation must be an investment for the future of Indonesia," he said.

Hasan has not been able to explain the amount of investment that the government will prepare. The value was not discussed in the meeting.

"If the value was not discussed, but the commitment is clear," he said.

He said the details of the budget would likely be discussed by the President with relevant ministries and agencies.

Hasan also responded to the circulation of documents on social media that linked Prabowo with the Nobel Peace Prize. He admitted that he had not checked the documents.

"I haven't checked, but it doesn't seem to be from the government," said Hasan.

When asked if the information was not true, Hasan said the government still needed to conduct an investigation.

"I think there is none from the government. We have to check," he said.
