Arif Satria Shows Off BRIN-Made Shoes at the Palace, Prices Start at Rp75 Thousand

JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency or BRIN is preparing cheap local shoes produced in Serpong. This product is referred to as part of an effort to answer the need for shoes at affordable prices.

BRIN Head Arif Satria showed the shoes at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, August 6.

According to Arif, President Prabowo Subianto had asked BRIN to find a solution related to the need for shoes.

"This is a local product BRIN shoe. This is the President who also ordered, BRIN please make something that can solve the shoe problem," said Arif.

Arif said the shoes were made by BRIN in Serpong. The advantage, said Arif, lies in the material and low price.

"This is all from rubber, cheap, less than Rp80 thousand," said Arif.

He said the price of the shoes still varies, depending on the motif and material. Currently, the price is in the range of Rp. 75 thousand. There are also variants that cost over Rp. 100 thousand.

"Yes, currently the price varies, the motive, the material, is around Rp. 75 thousand. There are also those above Rp. 100 thousand," said Arif.

This product has not been mass-produced. BRIN will still look for industrial partners so that the shoes can be made in larger quantities.

"Yes, later we will look for industrial partners so that we can produce more," said Arif.

Arif also said that the shoes had not been used by all BRIN researchers. The product is still in the trial phase.

"Not yet, we are just trying. If it is good, only," said Arif.

In front of the media, Arif asked the reporters to try the shoes. He said the shoes were light, good, and cheap.

"It's light, good, cheap," said Arif.

Arif said that one of the directions for the development of BRIN shoes was to help the people's school program.

"Yes, later we will direct it to be able to help public schools," said Arif.

The program makes BRIN shoes have the opportunity to enter into a wider need, especially if mass production can be done with industrial partners.
