Trump Denies US Ammunition Stockpiles Are Running Low, Many Are Still Being Produced

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States has a very large amount of ammunition, dismissing reports from various media outlets about the Pentagon's dwindling ammunition stockpiles.

"The US has a very large amount of ammunition, especially for certain types. In addition, large amounts of ammunition are being produced and sent to the US as needed," Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform on Thursday, August 6, early morning, reported by CNN.

Trump did not elaborate on what kind of ammunition he meant.

"Defense companies are building the largest number of factories and production facilities in the history of our country," he continued.

CNN previously reported that the US military had spent nearly 80% of its interceptor missiles on the THAAD main missile defense system. Senior US military commanders warned that the Pentagon's ammunition stock was at a "very low and dangerous" level, according to a number of sources.

The depletion of THAAD missile stocks also adds to concerns that have previously emerged regarding Patriot missile stocks.

According to the report, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) estimates that the US had around 2,200 of the latest variant of Patriot missiles and 452 THAAD missiles before the conflict with Iran began.
