BANDUNG - The Bandung Police are investigating a series of accidents involving six vehicles on the Ciwidey-Rancabali Highway, Bandung Regency, after the results of the initial investigation showed that the truck was suspected of having broken the axle and running backwards.
Kanit Gakkum Satlantas Polresta Bandung Iptu Lilim said the accident occurred around 06.30 WIB and the cause was still being investigated by investigators.
"It is true that there has been a series of accidents involving six vehicles on the Ciwidey-Rancabali Road. Evacuation was carried out and we are still investigating to determine the cause of the accident," he said as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 6.
Based on the results of the preliminary investigation, the Mitsubishi Colt Diesel truck which was traveling from Ciwidey to Rancabali broke down while crossing the uphill road so that the vehicle went backwards.
The truck then collided with a car from the opposite direction and triggered a chain reaction involving several other vehicles.
According to Lilim, there were no casualties or injuries in the accident.
However, all vehicles involved suffered damage and caused material losses.
The police are still conducting an investigation of the scene of the accident, examining vehicles, and asking for information from witnesses to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Lilim appealed to drivers to ensure that vehicle conditions are in good condition, especially before crossing uphill and downhill lanes, to reduce the risk of accidents.
