Two Explosions Heard in Strait of Hormuz
JAKARTA - Tankers reported hearing two explosions while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, according to an organization that monitors maritime traffic in the region.
As reported by CNN, Thursday, August 6, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the tanker's captain reported hearing the sounds about nine nautical miles southeast of Kumzar, Oman.
The exact time of the incident is not known clearly; UKMTO recorded it as a late report indicating a time lag before the ship informed the maritime organization.
UKMTO did not mention the identity of the tanker, but stated that the crew and the ship were safe and there were no reports of environmental damage.
