Kemensos Suspends 1.49 Million KPM Bansos Indicated for Online Gambling

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs has suspended 1,494,652 Family of Beneficiaries (KPM) of the Sembako Program who were suspected of engaging in online gambling transactions based on the results of matching data with the Financial Transaction Reporting and Analysis Center (PPATK).

Of this amount, 794,475 KPM are also recipients of the Family Hope Program (PKH). For the time being, the distribution of assistance to them has been suspended while waiting for the verification process.

"There are 1,494,652 families of beneficiaries who are suspected of online gambling, based on data we received from PPATK. These days we are tracing and investigating," said Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) Wednesday, August 5.

According to him, this number increased compared to the results of matching data in 2025 which found that almost 600 thousand KPM were suspected of having transactions related to online gambling.

He explained, from the 1,494,652 KPM recipients of the Sembako Program who were suspected of having online gambling transactions, 794,475 KPM were also recorded as PKH recipients. The Ministry of Social Affairs is now conducting further research and verification of the data. The results of the deepening are targeted to be mapped next week.

"We are now exploring, maybe next week at least we have a more detailed picture of the search results. Later we will see and we will convey the results," explained Gus Ipul.

Kemensos will also conduct an in-depth study with PPATK and the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) to determine whether the beneficiaries have been proven to misuse social assistance. The verification process is also part of the update of the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN) so that social assistance is targeted.

"Maybe they no longer meet the criteria for receiving social assistance. Proof of social assistance is used for online gambling. So we will continue to delve into it, as part of updating data," he explained.

In addition to verifying, the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to strengthen education to beneficiary families through PKH assistants and social assistants. Education is carried out so that social assistance is used according to its provisions and increases people's digital literacy so that they do not misuse or allow their accounts to be used by others for activities that violate the law.

"Don't be careless, for example, if someone invites (or) uses his account. We continue to carry out socialization, education, and accompaniment to the Ministry of Education through social assistants. We do this continuously," concluded Gus Ipul.
