BGN: The cause of the majority of MBG poisoning, cooked food too early

JAKARTA - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, revealed that most of the alleged poisoning cases in the implementation of the free nutritious meal program (MBG) were due to violations of standard operating procedures (SOP), especially because the cooking process was carried out too early before the food was distributed to the beneficiaries.

According to Sudaryono, the results of the BGN evaluation showed that a number of poisoning incidents occurred due to food being cooked far before the serving time, so it did not comply with the procedures that had been established.

"We see some of the reasons for this yes. This is what we are talking about more generally. There are those who, for example, the standard operating procedure (SOP) cooks it quickly," said Sudaryono in his explanation, Wednesday, August 5.

He gave an example of the alleged case of MBG poisoning in Papua. Based on the results of the interim evaluation, the food was cooked from 19.00 WIT the previous day, while it was only distributed to the recipients the next day at around 11.00 WIT.

According to Sudaryono, this condition is a violation of the SOP for the implementation of the MBG program.

"So that's a violation. Including (cases) in Semarang are the same, starting to cook at 21.00 WIB," he said.

Furthermore, Sudaryono emphasized that BGN under his leadership would not tolerate it if other elements were found during the investigation, such as intentional or sabotage. If there is an indication of a criminal act, his party will firmly hand over its handling to the police.

"If there is, we will hand it over to everyone. Not then we cover it up or then we defend it. If we do something wrong, we will defend it? That's right. We must also have the presumption of innocence," said Sudaryono.
