Honor the Nation's Name, Young Police Officers Earn a Master's Degree in Cyber Security at NYU

JAKARTA - A young officer of the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) has carved a proud achievement in the international arena. Stefanus Wishnu Brata, S.Tr.K., MSGSCC., a graduate of the Police Academy (Akpol) 2022, officially holds a Master's degree in Cyber Security from New York University (NYU) in May 2026.

This success is an important milestone in strengthening the capacity of digital law enforcement in Indonesia, especially in the midst of the prevalence of cross-border cybercrime threats.

Learn Digital Security Governance and Critical Issues

Wishnu completed the Master of Science in Global Security, Conflict, and Cybercrime program which he has been pursuing since July 2024 with very satisfactory academic achievements.

During his studies at NYU, he delved into various crucial fields, such as:

Cybersecurity policy Digital governance Cyber threat assessment Strategy for handling transnational crime

This step confirms the commitment of the National Police in strengthening the quality of human resources to answer the challenges of the increasingly complex digital era.

Practical Experience at NCFTA and Cyber Collective

Not only honing theories in the classroom, this first police officer is also active in practical programs and world-class study tours. One of the strategic agendas he went through was a scientific study at the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA) in New York - a collaborative institution between law enforcement, the private sector, and global academics.

In addition, Wishnu honed his skills through Cyber Practicum at Cyber Collective, a non-profit institution from the United States. From this experience, he learned firsthand about risk mapping and Incident Response Plan preparation to mitigate the impact of massive digital attacks.

Ready to Strengthen the National Digital Defense Fortresses

The rapid development of technology has brought the consequence of increasing transnational threats. Wishnu emphasized the importance of a quick, measured, and systematic response in dealing with digital crime incidents.

"Through this education, I learned to understand the basics of considerations in the preparation of cybersecurity policies, including how to build a systematic response when a cybercrime incident occurs," said Wishnu.

He is committed to bringing home the knowledge and experience he has gained to strengthen Indonesia's cyber resilience.

"In the future, I hope to contribute to the development of the ability of the National Police to face the ever-evolving digital security challenges," he added.

This achievement of young officers is a tangible proof of the seriousness of the National Police in carrying out human resources modernization. The presence of strategic capacity personnel in the cyber field is now the main key to maintaining the digital sovereignty of the nation in the future.
