Pretending to be a Hansip, This Man Circled the Settlement and Then Steals a Motorcycle in Tipar Cakung

JAKARTA - Police arrested a man with the initials Z who stole a motorcycle in the Tipar Cakung Barat area, East Jakarta, by posing as a neighborhood security officer or hansip.

"So this perpetrator is in the mode of deceiving residents by posing as security officers or hansip. Well, he is tracing a place in the Tipar Cakung area," said Cakung Police Chief Kompol Andre Tri Putra as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 5.

The theft occurred on July 30, 2026 at around 03.00 WIB. The perpetrator is known to come from the Penggilingan area, Cakung, then operates in the Tipar area, West Cakung.

According to Andre, the perpetrator used his disguise as a security officer to make his presence not arouse suspicion. While walking around, the perpetrator then saw a motorcycle that was parked.

The perpetrator is suspected of using a T-shaped key to open the vehicle before taking it away from the location.

"Now he saw a parked motorcycle that he thought could be secured, he immediately put the T-shaped key that was written here, and immediately took the motorcycle away," said Andre.

However, the actions of the perpetrators while in action were known by the head of the RT and the surrounding community. The information was then passed on to the police officers who were on picket.

The picket team of the Cakung Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately moved after receiving information about the theft. The officers then secured Z and took him to the Cakung Police to undergo an examination.

"So after that, the movement of the perpetrator was monitored by the head of the RT and the community, so we immediately secured it, the picket team of the criminal investigation team immediately went down and immediately took it to the police station," explained Andre.

During the arrest, the police also secured a number of evidence, including one unit of a Honda Scoopy motorcycle, one letter T key and its key, and a vehicle registration certificate.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 77 of the Criminal Code Number 1 of 2023 with a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
