Corruption Court Free Verdict for Head of NTB DPRD Commission IV

MATARAM - The Mataram District Court Corruption Crime Court panel of judges sentenced the Chairman of Commission IV of the West Nusa Tenggara DPRD, Hamdan Kasim, to a free verdict in the gratification case.

The Chairperson of the Panel of Judges Dewi Santini in the verdict read at the Corruption Crime Court at the Mataram District Court stated that Hamdan in the defendant's status was not proven to have given money to three other members of the NTB DPRD as charged by the public prosecutor.

"Free the defendant Hamdan Kasim from all public prosecutor's charges," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 5.

With this verdict, the panel of judges also asked that the rights of the defendants be restored.

"Order the public prosecutor to restore the rights of the defendant in his ability, position, dignity, and dignity," he said.

In the ruling, the judge also stipulated that the evidence in the form of Rp. 450 million, which had previously been confiscated by the prosecutor from the submission of other members, namely Harwoto, Lalu Irwan Satriadi, and Nurdin Marjuni, was returned to them.

Previously, the public prosecutor demanded that the judge sentence the defendant Hamdan Kasim to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

In addition, the public prosecutor also asked the judge to impose a fine of Rp. 100 million on the legislator in the form of a three-month imprisonment.

The prosecutor demanded this by stating that the defendant's actions were proven to have given money worth Rp. 450 million to three other members in accordance with Article 605 paragraph (1) letter ajuncto Article 127 paragraph (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustment and jo. Article 18 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.
