Meet the Minister of Finance Purbaya, Dony Oskaria Discusses the Resolution of the Whoosh Debt
JAKARTA - Danantara Indonesia Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Management Agency (BP) Dony Oskaria visited the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to discuss a number of strategic agendas, including the settlement of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) debt as the operator of the Whoosh high-speed train service.
Dony said the meeting was part of routine coordination between Danantara and the Ministry of Finance to align various policies being processed by the government.
"Today we discuss more about streamlining, then among them we discuss KCIC," he said when met at the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 5.
When asked about the scheme that the government would take to resolve the KCIC issue, Dony asked the public to wait for further explanations from Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.
"We are all open. Later we will talk about it when it is finalized. The scheme for settling KCIC's debt will be the same as Mr. Minister of Finance," he said.
Apart from KCIC, Dony revealed that his party also proposed tax relief to support the restructuring process of SOEs. According to him, the proposal has a legal basis and is currently being processed so that it can be immediately resolved.
"We ask for the tax. Ask for tax relief. And there is a law for us. The administrative process so that it can be quickly resolved," he said.
Dony said that he and Purbaya had the same view regarding the efforts to arrange SOEs. The government, he continued, is committed to cleaning up the existing problems so that corporate governance can be better.
"But in my opinion and Mr. Minister of Finance, we are one voice about anything. In principle, we want to organize as well as possible what has happened and we will tidy up the principle," he said.
