Perputaran Uang Judol Capai Rp86,87 Triliun, Komisi III DPR Minta Polri Makin Tegas

Member of Commission III of the DPR, Abdullah, asked the National Police to be more firm and massive in preventing and taking action against online gambling practices after the Financial Transaction Reporting and Analysis Center (PPATK) revealed the still large turnover of online gambling funds in Indonesia.

Based on PPATK data, the turnover of online gambling funds throughout Semester I (January-June) 2026 reached IDR 86.82 trillion. Meanwhile, the deposit value was recorded at IDR 22.05 trillion in 226.76 million transactions through bank accounts, electronic wallets, and QRIS.

Although the value of fund turnover decreased by around 12.9 percent compared to Semester I 2025 which reached IDR 99.68 trillion, the number of transactions actually jumped by around 167.2 percent. Deposit value also increased by around 26 percent. PPATK assessed that perpetrators are now using increasingly sophisticated transaction patterns with smaller nominal amounts, but are repeated to avoid detection.

Abdullah assessed that the findings should be a serious alarm for all law enforcement officials, especially the National Police, to strengthen efforts to eradicate online gambling.

"Data submitted by PPATK must be an important material for the National Police to carry out prevention and enforcement of online gambling practices in Indonesia. Do not let this increasing transaction figure be considered a normal thing," said Abdullah, Wednesday, August 5.

According to him, the increase in the number of transactions shows that the online gambling network is still very active and continues to adapt to various new modes to avoid the supervision of the authorities.

"The National Police must be more willing to take action against online gambling perpetrators. Never get tired of eradicating this crime because the impact is very destructive to society, both in terms of economy and social," he said.

Abdullah also encouraged the National Police to strengthen synergy with PPATK in tracing the flow of funds and dismantling the network of perpetrators to intellectual actors behind the illegal business.

He also highlighted the PPATK's findings regarding more than six million transactions related to the World Cup in just one month. According to Abdullah, this shows that every big momentum, especially international sports events, is always used by the online gambling network to snare new victims.

"The World Cup is a momentum and an entry point for gambling. The finding of millions of transactions in a short time shows how quickly the online gambling network takes advantage of public attention. Therefore, the authorities must take anticipatory steps long before major events take place," he said.

Abdullah emphasized that Indonesia is currently in a state of emergency for online gambling, requiring extraordinary measures and involving all stakeholders.

"We ask the government together with the National Police to continue to intensify education and socialization to the public regarding the dangers of online gambling, especially for the younger generation who are the main targets of perpetrators," he concluded.
