US Lifts Visa for Brazilian Ambassador for Rejecting Trump's Proposed Ambassador

JAKARTA - The United States revoked the visa of the Brazilian Ambassador to Washington after the Brazilian government had not provided diplomatic approval (agrément) for the US Ambassador to Brazil candidate proposed by the government of President Donald Trump.

In addition, Brazil also refused to provide visas to a number of US diplomats, according to a senior US State Department (State Department) official.

As reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Wednesday, August 5, the official said the visa would be restored after the diplomatic issue was resolved.

At the end of July, Brazil denied visa applications for two US State Department officials who were scheduled to visit the country ahead of the Brazilian presidential election on October 4.

On June 1, US President Donald Trump nominated Florida State House of Representatives Chairman Daniel Perez as US Ambassador to Brazil.
