Police Start Legal Process for Cutting Down 10 Trees in Front of Padel Six Nine Bandung

BANDUNG - Polrestabes Bandung is investigating alleged criminal acts in the case of the felling of 10 trees on Jalan LLRE Martadinata (Riau), Bandung City, which is suspected of being carried out without a permit.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bandung Police, AKBP Anton, said investigators were still collecting evidence to determine whether there were criminal elements in the incident.

"We are together with the police and are also studying and investigating whether the incident has any indication of criminal acts," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 5.

Anton said that until now the police had not received an official report from the Bandung City Government as the party harmed so that investigators were still coordinating to determine the next legal steps.

According to Anton, felling trees that do not belong to private property cannot be done carelessly because it has the potential to meet the elements of criminal damage if it is proven to violate legal provisions.

Previously, the Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan stated that the felling of 10 trees in front of the Six Nine Padel Area was suspected of violating environmental protection provisions and could be processed criminally.

Farhan suspected that the logging was carried out to clarify the appearance of the front of the padel open area.

According to him, these trees are old trees that have an important function as shade and part of the urban ecosystem.
