Police Arrest Child Who Burned His Parents' House in Ciparay Bandung
JAKARTA - Polrestabes Bandung arrested a man with the initials AR (22) who allegedly burned his parents' house until the fire spread and burned down three houses in Babakan Ciparay District, Bandung City.
Babakan Ciparay Police Chief Kompol Kurniawan said the perpetrator was suspected of setting fire after having a fight with his parents on Tuesday (4/8).
"The motive is that he feels upset because he was left by his family or parents so he committed this act," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 5.
According to Kurniawan, at around 10.00 WIB the perpetrator got into an argument with his parents. About three hours later, the perpetrator returned to the location in an emotional state, damaged several parts of the house, then burned his motorcycle.
The fire from the motorcycle then grew and spread to surrounding buildings, burning down three huts, including the house occupied by the perpetrator.
There were no casualties in the incident. However, the parents of the perpetrator suffered burns to their hands and underwent medical treatment.
The police are still completing the case file and examining a number of witnesses. AR has been detained at the Mapolsek Babakan Ciparay and charged under Article 187 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.
