Indonesia Strongly Condemns Attacks on Gaza, Calls on Israel to Honor Commitments and Fulfill Obligations

JAKARTA - Indonesia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the repeated attacks by Israel on the Gaza Strip, Palestine, asking the country to respect the commitment to the ceasefire and carry out its obligations.

Israel has stepped up its attacks on Gaza since last weekend, despite US President Donald Trump announcing a deal on the disarmament of the Hamas group and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Palestinian enclave.

"Indonesia firmly condemns Israel's continued military attacks on Gaza, including attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, which are serious violations of international law, deliberately undermine the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan, and exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people," tweeted the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (5/8).

"Indonesia calls on Israel, as a party to the ceasefire agreement, to immediately and permanently stop its military attacks, fully implement its obligations under relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and respect all commitments under the ceasefire agreement, in accordance with international law," he continued.

Previously, President Trump announced last Thursday a deal to disarm the Hamas group and withdraw Israeli forces from Gaza, calling it a historic deal for peace and security implemented gradually.

Hamas official Ghazi Hamad said the group agreed to a comprehensive peace deal after consulting with various Palestinian factions, with the aim of ending the war and saving Palestinians from the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.

However, there has been no official stance from the Israeli side. On the other hand, Israel launched repeated attacks on Gaza after President Trump's announcement, a move that Hamas criticized as an attempt to thwart a ceasefire agreement.

Separately, the Peace Council on Monday urged Israel and Hamas to fulfill their obligations under the agreed Gaza ceasefire framework, saying further progress depended on the compliance of both sides.

"Indonesia welcomes the acceptance reported by Hamas and other Palestinian factions of the Roadmap for Phase Two of the Peace Plan, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025)," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained.

"This is an important step towards ending the conflict," he continued.

"Indonesia also calls on all parties to ensure full protection for civilians, medical personnel, and humanitarian workers, as well as ensuring the safe, rapid, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added, "Indonesia reaffirms its firm commitment to support a credible political process towards the realization of a free and sovereign Palestinian State based on the Two-State Solution, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and internationally agreed parameters, as the only way to a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East."
