Family of Victim Hit by JakLingko in Tomang Demands Responsibility

JAKARTA - The family of Akiam (81), an elderly man who was a victim of a traffic accident allegedly hit by a JakLingko minibus on Jalan Tomang Utara, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, demands accountability from the PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta).

The victim's son, Patricia, said the family was scheduled to hold a meeting with Transjakarta's leadership on Wednesday (5/8) to discuss the problem,

"Our hope is that there will be compensation for medical expenses until the end and the cost of repairing the motorcycle. The point is, there is responsibility," said Patricia as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 4.

Patricia said the incident occurred on Saturday (25/7) at around 05.35 WIB when her father was riding a motorcycle to the market. According to the eyewitness's statement at the scene, JakLingko Route 54 was traveling at high speed and suddenly changed lanes.

"My father was riding a motorcycle, not going against the direction. Suddenly, JakLingko 54 immediately turned the steering wheel to the right and hit it," he said.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered serious injuries in the form of broken bones in the hands and nose, as well as pain in the chest. The victim was helped by the surrounding residents before being rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

In addition to regretting the incident, Patricia regretted the driver's attitude, which was considered not to show good faith and instead acted arrogantly when he was met at the hospital.

"When I left the room, the JakLingko driver was angry. Instead of apologizing, he said 'don't drive the car fast', then threatened to bring a lawyer and a guarantor. I am the victim's family, why am I being yelled at," he said.

He also explained that the handling of official complaints only began to respond after the case went viral on social media.

Responding to this incident, Member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Kevin Wu urged the Transjakarta to immediately resolve this issue and provide the victims' rights fairly. He emphasized that he would take legal action if there was no concrete solution within 2x24 hours.

"Fulfill the responsibility from the Transjakarta side. This must be investigated immediately. If there is no good faith and no settlement to the family, we will follow up on this case," said Kevin.
