Looking for a sporty SUV? Here are various model options at GIIAS 2026

JAKARTA - The Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment is once again one of the main magnets at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. Various models come with an increasingly sporty character, combining aggressive design, modern technology, to qualified performance.

Suzuki Fronx SGX Hybrid Kuro

One of the latest newcomers is the Suzuki Fronx SGX Hybrid Kuro which was officially introduced on August 1, 2026. The Suzuki Fronx SGX Hybrid Kuro appears with a new identity through a black grille that gives a more assertive impression while strengthening the masculine character typical of the Kuro variant.

"Through the Fronx SGX Hybrid Kuro, we want to complement other options for consumers who want a more sporty SUV Coupe character while getting more complete safety technology to support daily mobility," said Deputy Managing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) Donny Saputra, at ICE BSD, recently.

The exterior appearance is also supported by LED Position Lamp, LED Turning Lamp, three-point LED Daytime Running Light (DRL), LED Head Lamp, LED Rear Lamp, rear combination LED lights, follow me home system features, and black rims measuring 16 inches.

Entering the cabin, this compact SUV carries a combination of black and burgundy colors that give a premium feel. Suzuki also embeds a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) feature that is capable of recording the journey in real-time. The recording can be accessed via an application on the smartphone so as to provide a sense of security while driving.

Behind the engine hood, the Fronx SGX Hybrid Kuro is equipped with a 1,500 cc K15C engine combined with Suzuki's Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) technology, using an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a lithium-ion battery. This variant is marketed in the Cool Black with Black color choice with a price of IDR 333.8 million.

Geely Coolray

Another option comes from the Geely Coolray which also debuted at GIIAS 2026. This SUV carries a strong sporty character through the bumper design, red caliper wheel rims, to the rear spoiler with an "S" emblem that emphasizes its performance aura.

In terms of the engine, the Geely Coolray relies on a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 174 PS of power and 290 Nm of torque. All power is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission, with a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Geely offers the Coolray in two options, namely the Standard variant for Rp333 million and the Flagship with a price tag of Rp377 million.

Omoda O4

Omoda O4 is one of the Chinese electric SUVs that successfully attracted the attention of GIIAS 2026 visitors. This car carries the Cyber Mecha Design concept with sharp body lines and a futuristic look. Omoda also equipped it with various features based on artificial intelligence (AI) to support ease of daily use.

As a pure electric vehicle, the Omoda O4 is equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 65.05 kWh which is claimed to be able to travel up to 553 kilometers based on the NEDC test standard. This car also supports DC fast charging up to 119 kW, so that the battery capacity can be charged from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 22 minutes. Consumers can already make a booking with a booking fee of Rp5 million at GIIAS 2026, although the official price has not yet been announced.

Kia Sonet

Finally, for other sporty SUV options, Kia is present through the Sonet Limited Black Edition. This model received a refresh in the exterior sector through black coating on the Tiger Nose Grille, Front Skid Plate, Rear Skid Plate, Mirror Cover, and Door Handle, which further strengthens the impression of elegance and aggressiveness.

Kia also presents the Digital Sound Processor (DSP) which produces clearer audio quality. The South Korean SUV is marketed at a price of IDR 288 million.
