Lantik JMSI DKI Jakarta, Teguh Santosa Ingatkan Media Jangan Jadi Mesin Disinformasi
JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Indonesian Cyber Media Network or JMSI, Teguh Santosa, reminded cyber media not to become a place for hatred and disinformation in the midst of the rapid flow of digital information.
The message was conveyed by Teguh when appointing the DKI Jakarta Provincial JMSI Board of Directors at the Press Council Hall, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Monday, August 3.
Teguh said that freedom of information must be used responsibly. According to Teguh, the media has a role in educating the public, not disseminating information that damages the public space.
"Freedom of information is a gift. However, this freedom must be used responsibly. Do not let the media be used to build hatred or create false information. Information must be an instrument to advance the nation," said Teguh.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration within the organization. Teguh said that organizations cannot rely on just one or two people.
According to Teguh, the strength of JMSI must be built through communication, cohesiveness, and working together with all members.
"Strong organizations are built from teamwork. Like the beautiful goals that are born from the coordination of the world's best players, JMSI must also be built through communication, togetherness, and collaboration of all its members. Don't expect the organization to only depend on one or two people," he said.
Teguh asked the management of the DKI Jakarta JMSI to build communication to the member level. He also encouraged the strengthening of relations with various stakeholders.
According to Teguh, the organization will develop if all members feel that they have and are involved in the programs carried out.
He also invited media companies that are members of JMSI to emulate the spirit of the founding fathers from among journalists. Teguh said that the press has played a role since the struggle period in gluing regions and building national awareness.
In the midst of the heavy flow of information, Teguh asked that freedom of expression not be abused to trigger division.
"I want JMSI to work together with all stakeholders, all journalistic organizations such as PWI, AJI, IJTI, and other organizations. The stronger the collaboration, the greater the contribution of the press to national development," he said.
Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Provincial JMSI Edi Kuswanto said the new management is committed to building a healthy, professional, independent, and accountable cyber media ecosystem.
"JMSI DKI Jakarta is not only a gathering place for digital media owners and managers, but is committed to building a healthy, professional, and accountable media ecosystem," said Edi.
He said that cyber media should be a light for the community, not a spreader of disinformation or misleading narratives.
Edi said that JMSI DKI Jakarta is ready to become a strategic partner of the government, the business world, and the community in supporting development through transparent and comprehensive reporting.
However, he emphasized that press independence must still be maintained as a social control function.
"We invite all parties to open up space for collaboration to realize a safe, prosperous, and dignified Jakarta. JMSI DKI Jakarta will continue to present programs that provide benefits for the community and the media industry," he said.
As a first step, Edi said JMSI DKI Jakarta prepared a number of strategic programs. One of them is a major agenda at the end of September 2026 to strengthen the organization and increase the capacity of member media companies.
In the management of the DKI Jakarta JMSI for the period 2025-2030, Edi Kuswanto served as chairman, Kornelius Naibaho as secretary, and Ali Rahman as treasurer.
