Gosowong Nihil Gold Mine Fatal Accident 3 Years, NHM Driven to Chase Green PROPER

GOSOWONG - PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals or NHM recorded zero fatal work accidents or zero fatalities over the past three years at the Gosowong Gold Mine.

This achievement is one of the records of the Mine Inspector of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources or ESDM in the Integrated Technical and Environmental Supervision and Training or Integrated Binwas in the Gosowong Gold Mine, on July 20-24, 2026.

Binwas Terpadu is a training and supervision activity to ensure mining companies carry out good mining practices.

The activity was attended by NHM management, the company's operational manager, and seven mine inspectors from the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources under the coordination of Adhadi Julianto.

During the activity, the Mine Inspector conducted training and interviews with managers and Operational Managers. The team also directly reviewed a number of operational areas at the Gosowong Gold Mine.

The evaluation was carried out on five aspects of good mining rules. The five include mining techniques, conservation, environmental management, occupational safety and health, and standardization of service businesses.

Mine Inspector Coordinator Adhadi Julianto said that in general, NHM operations have met good mining rules.

According to Adhadi, one of the indicators is the achievement of zero fatalities over the past three years. Even so, NHM still has room for improvement, especially in some aspects of administration in the field.

Adhadi said the results of the Integrated Binwas this year can be an opportunity for NHM to improve operational and environmental management.

"The results of this year's Binwas implementation can provide opportunities for NHM to continue to improve operational and environmental management performance, including towards the status of PROPER Green or beyond compliance and open opportunities for NHM to participate in the Subroto Awards," said Adhadi in a written statement received Monday, August 3.

PROPER Green is an assessment of a company's environmental performance that shows environmental management beyond minimum obligations. While beyond compliance means that a company not only complies with basic rules, but also practices better than mandatory standards.

At the closing meeting of the activity, the Head of Mining Engineering of NHM Rado Lawolo said that the implementation of the Integrated Binwas for the past three years has provided many inputs for the company.

"For the past three years, Gosowong has consistently carried out Integrated Binwas. From this process, we have received many inputs and operational development opportunities to continue to improve performance towards beyond compliance," said Rado.

Rado said that efforts to improve operational performance continue to receive support from the NHM Board of Directors.

According to Rado, this support is needed so that companies can strengthen the implementation of good mining principles, improve occupational safety, and encourage sustainable environmental management.
