Interpol Issues Red Notice for Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry

JAKARTA - The International Relations Division (Divhubinter) of the National Police revealed that Interpol had issued a red notice for the suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case, Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry.

The Head of the Police's Hubinter Division, Brigjen Untung Widyatmoko, said the red notice was issued in July 2026.

"The person concerned was issued an Interpol Red Notice on July 9, 2026 with Interpol Red Notice A/10808/7-2026," said Untung as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 3.

The issuance of the Interpol Red Notice was based on a request from the National Police's Divhubinter. Meanwhile, Al Misry has Indonesian citizenship through the naturalization process.

From the official Interpol website, Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry is listed with the first name Ahmad Abdelwakil Elsayed Mohamed and the last name Ahmed.

In the identity section, the suspect was recorded as born in Kalyubiya, Egypt, on January 1, 1987, and has Indonesian citizenship.

For the case, Al Misry is suspected of committing criminal acts in the form of obscene acts and physical sexual harassment.

It is known that the Directorate of Criminal Protection of Women and Children and Eradication of Human Trafficking (PPA and PPO) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has named Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry as a suspect in alleged sexual harassment.

He was reported to the police in November 2025 for an alleged case of sexual harassment against five male students.

Ustadz Abi Makki as a witness said that in 2021, Al Misry allegedly harassed his followers.

At that time, the victims along with the santri teachers and religious figures carried out tabayyun until finally Al Misry apologized and promised not to commit acts of alleged sexual harassment of the same sex.

However, instead of repenting, in 2025, the teachers received recognition from their santrinya Al Misry to do the same thing again.

In the end, a report was made to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police about the alleged harassment.
