Arteta Silent on Vinicius Transfer Rumor, but Wants Arsenal to Be More Active in the Market

JAKARTA - Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta refused to provide any information about his club's interest in Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior.

Apart from that, the Spanish coach actually also expects more movement from the Gunners before the summer transfer window ends.

ESPN reported that Arsenal are interested in the Brazilian star and have studied the possibility of a deal.

When asked by a reporter in a casual conversation at the weekend when Vinicius would join the English League champions, Arteta just laughed before leaving.

Arteta only gave further details about the club's transfer business and whether fans can expect more new players before the start of the new season.

"Well, we are really active, trying to improve and develop the team. That's clear. We hope there will be movement in the next few weeks, of course, because we want to be better like everyone else."

"You can see the transfer market and our opponents. What we are doing, we will not be silent. We are very ambitious in what we want to do," he said.

As is known, Vinicius' contract with Los Blancos will expire next summer. ESPN reported at the weekend that Real Madrid are open to the possibility of the 26-year-old leaving the club if there is no new contract agreement.

The reason is that Real Madrid does not plan to increase their last contract extension offer.

While Real Madrid struggled to hold Vinicius, that's where Arsenal tried to find an opportunity. ESPN said, The Gunners believe they will be in a strong position if Vinicius chooses to move even though it is reported that there has been no contact with the English League champion.

Apart from that, Arsenal's only major new player this summer is Christos Tzolis, who joined for a fee of £34m from Club Brugge.

The Greek winger scored his first goal for Arsenal last weekend, scoring the team's second goal against Girona in the preseason.

In addition to Vinicius, Arsenal is also strongly associated with another Brazilian player, namely Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
