Prevent Corruption, North Morowali Regency Strengthen Regional Governance

JAKARTA - The North Morowali Regency Government (Pemkab Morut), Central Sulawesi continues to strengthen the governance of the local government as an effort to prevent corruption.

"Corruption prevention is not enough just administrative supervision, but must also be followed by risk-based prevention," said Deputy Regent of North Morowali Djira in Kolonodale, Saturday.

According to him, the direction of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) through the intervention program of the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP) or monitoring, control, supervision for corruption prevention has been properly implemented in overseeing the governance of local governments.

Then, following up on this direction, the Morut Regency Government focused on eight areas prone to corruption in the local government environment, namely strengthening the planning and utilization of the Regional Budget (APBD), then the implementation of procurement of goods and services, the implementation of permits and public services.

Then the strengthening of the management of the civil servant apparatus (ASN), as well as the strengthening of the Internal Government Supervisory Apparatus (APIP), including the management of state-owned goods (BMN) and the optimization of the collection of levies and local taxes.

"The regional device organization (OPD) is responsible for the MCSP intervention area, immediately coordinating the steps, accelerating the fulfillment of indicators, and strengthening commitment in efforts to prevent corruption in the government environment," he said.

He explained that accelerating the fulfillment of indicators in each intervention area, increasing coordination between regional devices, and aligning perceptions of steps that must be immediately followed up are one unit in strengthening government governance.

According to the KPK's integrity assessment survey (SPI) in West Sulawesi in the last three years from 2023 to 2025, North Morowali has a vulnerable status along with seven other district governments and one Central Sulawesi Provincial Government.

"What the KPK has directed, we will immediately follow up and we have implemented this step through a coordination meeting of all OPDs in the North Morowali Regency on Friday (31/7)," said Djira.
