Victim Drowned in Karawang Irrigation Found by Joint SAR Team  

JAKARTA - A joint SAR team found a drowning victim who was suspected of diving into an irrigation canal in Tegalsari Village, Cilamaya Wetan District, Karawang Regency, West Java on the second day of the search operation, Saturday.

"The victim was found dead, about 200 meters from the initial location where the victim was suspected of diving," said Head of Public Relations of Karawang Police, Ipda Cep Wildan, in Karawang, Saturday.

He explained that the second day of the search operation began on Saturday, at 08.00 WIB, involving personnel from Satpolairud Polresta Karawang, Cilamaya Police, Karawang Basarnas Unit, Karawang BPBD, Karawang MTA Volunteers, and Karawang Rescue Volunteers.

Before the search was carried out, all elements involved carried out coordination and mapping of the search area to determine an effective evacuation strategy.

This step was taken so that the search process could run optimally by taking into account the conditions of the river flow and the safety of all personnel in the field.

In the implementation, the joint SAR team deployed three rubber boats to comb the irrigation flow from the point where the victim was suspected of diving to a radius of about 500 meters.

In addition to conducting a search on the water, officers also searched along the river banks and shrub areas around the irrigation channel.

Cep Wildan said that after about two hours of searching, the victim was finally found about 200 meters from the bridge of the incident location.

Furthermore, the joint SAR team carried out the evacuation process according to procedures and ensured the handling of the victim quickly and professionally.

After being evacuated, the victim's body was immediately handed over to the family. The entire search operation took place smoothly thanks to the synergy of all elements involved in the humanitarian mission.

The police conveyed condolences to the victim's family for the disaster that occurred. The police also appreciate the dedication of all personnel and volunteers who have cooperated in the search process until the victim was found.
