Double Decker Mount Harta Bus Burns on the Madiun-Nganjuk Toll Road

MADIUN - A double-decker bus or level owned by PO Gunung Harta majoring in Jakarta-Jember caught fire at KM 631 of the Madiun-Nganjuk Toll Road, specifically in the Pajaran Village area, Saradan District, Madiun Regency, Saturday (1/8) early morning.

Head of the Fire and Rescue Section of the Madiun Regency Satpol PP, Andy Koerniawan, said according to data, the bus was reported to be carrying around 30 passengers, two drivers, and a conductor when the fire occurred. Fortunately, there were no casualties, because they all managed to get out before the bus body was heavily burned.

"There were no casualties or injuries in the incident," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 1.

The bus with the police number B-7572-KGA was driven by Purwanto (61), a resident of Tamanrejo Village, Tamansari Village, Jember Regency. Meanwhile, the backup driver is known as Abdul Rajak, a resident of Tukangkayu Village, Banyuwangi Regency.

At the time of the incident, the bus was traveling from Jakarta to Jember. Upon arrival at the KM 631 scene, the main lights suddenly went out. Then the driver tried to pull the vehicle to the side of the road and cut off all electrical currents to the engine.

When he checked the fuse box, suddenly smoke came out and he told all passengers to get out. After that there was a spark and it caught fire.

Damkar officers received a report of a fire on Friday (31/7) at around 23.40 WIB from toll officers. The Damkar team of Madiun Regency arrived at the location at around 00.01 WIB and immediately carried out a blackout with Damkar Nganjuk Regency.

In the handling process, the Madiun Regency Damkar deployed one fire truck while the Nganjuk Regency Damkar sent three units of the fleet.

Highway Patrol (PJR) personnel, the Madiun Police Traffic Unit, and toll officers also secured the scene and regulated toll traffic around the scene, which had been stalled due to the incident.

The results of the preliminary investigation, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the bus. The material losses due to the incident are estimated to reach billions of rupiah.
