KPK Constructs Alleged Fee of IDR 3.5 Billion to Former HIPMI Chairman from Waskita Revealed in Court

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has begun to construct a flow of Rp3.5 billion to Akbar Himawan Buchari as the former Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI). The alleged receipt was revealed in a trial of a bribery case for a railway line development project in the Medan region's Directorate General of Railways (DJKA).

Acting Director of Investigation of the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, said that the title of the case or the exposure of the trial facts had been carried out. The prosecutor is said to have submitted a report on the development of the prosecution.

"Actually, the (former Ketum, ed) HIPMI, yes, this is indeed the result of the trial of the facts of the trial. There has been a report from the JPU team and together with the investigative team to how to review and then construct the facts of the trial that have been found. The update is that there is an exposure or title of the case related to what the development is like," Taufik told reporters at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted Saturday, August 1.

Taufik has not detailed the results of the title of the case. However, the development of the case is said to be carried out and the administrative process is underway.

"Currently it is still being processed for administration, whether (administration, ed) in the investigation, we will check," he said.

From a number of reports, the Corruption Court Panel of Judges at the Medan District Court included the alleged flow of Rp3.5 billion to Akbar Himawan Buchari as one of the considerations in the verdict against the Commitment Maker Officer (PPK) II of the North Sumatra Class II Railway Engineering Office, Muhlis Hanggani Capah and Commissioner of PT Tri Tirta Permata Eddy Kurniawan Winarto. The facts of this trial are even said to be a gateway for the KPK to develop the case.

"Considering the transfer of money as a commitment fee, which was handed over to Akbar Himawan Buchari who previously wanted to participate in the JKLMB 1 project, this is an entry point for development and investigation, revealing Akbar Himawan Buchari's involvement in receiving a commitment fee of Rp. 3.5 billion," said Khamozaro when reading the verdict on June 25, 2026.

In the previous trial, the defendant Eddy Kurniawan Winarto admitted that he believed that the Rp3.5 billion had been received by Akbar through someone named Roni.

"Yes, because so far Akbar has not complained to me, that's what I believe the money has reached Akbar by Roni," said Eddy when giving testimony at the trial.

Eddy also explained that the money was related to a request for assistance in settling bills to PT Waskita Karya which, according to his confession, began with discussions regarding cooperation on the Kuala Tanjung-Besitang-Medan Railway Line (JLKMB) I project and a request for funds for the benefit of the election of regional heads.
