Police are still investigating the fire of 57 houses in Tallo Makassar

MAKASSAR - The police are still investigating the cause of the fire that burned down 57 houses in Tallo Village, Tallo District, Makassar. The suspected electrical short circuit has not been confirmed.

Tallo Police Chief AKP Asfada said the Makassar Police Inafis team had carried out an investigation of the crime scene to uncover the cause of the fire.

"The cause of the fire is currently still under investigation. This morning, the crime scene was carried out by Inafis Polrestabes Makassar," he said as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 1.

According to Asfada, until now investigators have not been able to determine the cause of the fire, although there is an allegation that the incident was triggered by an electrical short circuit.

Based on the temporary data, the fire burned 57 houses inhabited by 83 families or 317 people.

Some survivors are now sheltering in a post set up around the fire site, while others have chosen to stay temporarily at relatives' homes.

The local government together with the police, TNI, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the community continue to coordinate in handling post-fire, including debris cleaning and distribution of assistance to affected residents.
