Trump Assures Iran of Very Hard Attack This Weekend

JAKARTA - The United States plans to launch a new attack on Iran as early as this weekend. Even so, President Donald Trump is reportedly trying to find a solution to the conflict.

The exact scope of the attack and the potential targets that the US might target are not clear. Both officials warned that the attack could be canceled.

Trump, speaking at a cabinet meeting on Friday, July 31 local time, hinted at the possibility of another major attack while venting his frustration over diplomatic efforts that he considered to be insufficient.

"We're going to hit them very hard," Trump said.

"At some point, they will say, 'We can't take it anymore'," he continued, as reported by CNN.

The US Central Command (US Central Command) has prepared various options and alerted its troops to expand the scope of the conflict, including plans for a massive two-week bombing of Iranian missile sites.

According to the officials, there is also planning regarding the option of an attack targeting energy facilities.

The Trump administration had previously been careful to avoid attacking Iran's energy infrastructure for fear that Tehran would retaliate by attacking infrastructure in the Gulf region and shaking up the global energy market, which was already under pressure from the conflict.

Earlier this week, the Israeli Minister of Defense stated that the country's leadership wanted to attack Iran's energy infrastructure as a way to provide further economic pressure on Iran. "We are very keen to attack Iran's energy targets - but the US does not agree to this at the moment," said Israel Katz.

There is no indication Israel will be involved in any new US wave of attacks on Iran.

In addition, the US military has prepared to launch a series of attacks targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure, including the Pickaxe Mountain site south of Tehran - although not limited to that location. Preparations have intensified in recent days, officials said.

When asked for comment on reports Trump had ordered the new attack over the weekend, the White House said the president would not "stand by and let this act of terrorism continue."

"Iran will continue to bear the consequences until they are willing to sit at the negotiating table in a way that President Trump considers meaningful," said press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
