Trump dismisses Iran report behind cyber attack in Minnesota

JAKARTA - President Donald Trump has dismissed reports that Iran was responsible for the recent cyber attack on vital infrastructure in Minnesota, USA. Trump instead harshly criticized the state government led by the Democratic Party.

"We heard the news in Minnesota that there was a cyber attack and they blamed Iran. I don't think so. I blame Minnesota because they are very incompetent," Trump said at a cabinet meeting in Camp David, Friday, July 31 local time.

CNN reported that hackers targeted water management systems in several US states, including Minnesota, in a coordinated cyber attack that caused a number of water service providers to issue boiling water advisories and switch to manual mode by disconnecting the system from the network (offline), according to US officials.

Federal and state officials have pointed to Iran as a suspect in the hack, but have not officially named a culprit and remain on the lookout for possible blame-shifting tactics.

The president denied any connection to Iran and instead used the opportunity to attack Minnesota Governor Tim Walz - a Democratic vice presidential candidate for the 2024 election who has long been publicly at odds with Trump.

"I'm going to blame Minnesota and its governor, the corrupt governor of Minnesota. They like to say, 'Oh, it's Iran.' Iran is lucky if that's the case. Iran has bigger problems than having to think about Minnesota," Trump said.
