Cimahi Police Station Names 2 Suspects in Viral Child Abuse Case

CIMAHI - The Cimahi Police have named two suspects in a case of alleged abuse of a five-year-old child in Cipongkor District, West Bandung Regency, after a video of alleged violence against the victim circulated on social media.

The Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Moh. Faruk Rozi said the two suspects with initials D alias Pepi (28) and A (22) were charged with Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 paragraphs (1) and (4) of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection with a maximum penalty of four years and six months in prison.

"For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 76C in conjunction with Article 80 paragraphs (1) and (4) of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection," he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 31.

According to Faruk, based on the results of the examination, the suspect D admitted to abusing his biological child to get sympathy from his ex-wife so that he was willing to reconcile again.

The police also named suspect A because he allegedly recorded the alleged act of persecution.

Investigators are still investigating all motives and collecting evidence to complete the investigation process.

This case previously surfaced after a video showing alleged violence against a child circulated on social media. In the footage, the victim appears to have suffered facial injuries.

The Cimahi Police ensured that the legal process was carried out in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations by prioritizing the protection of victims during the investigation process.
