Trump Will Be Very Disappointed If Israel Does Not Comply with the Gaza Plan

JAKARTA - A United States (US) official said President Donald Trump would be very disappointed if Israel did not fulfill their part in the Gaza peace plan, following the US announcement of a disarmament deal with Hamas.

"We are not asking Israel to do anything other than agree to the 20-point plan they have agreed to before, so we are very confident they will comply. Otherwise, of course, President Trump will be very, very disappointed," the official said, quoted by CNN, Friday, July 31.

"Considering the various problems they are facing, it seems to me that this is not something they want to make a big issue at this time. So, we believe they will continue to be good partners in this matter and comply with it," he continued.

When asked about the schedule for the completion of the disarmament of Hamas, the official highlighted the complexity of the issue and the importance of doing everything properly, rather than being fixated on strict deadlines.

"I think in the next few weeks we will continue to mature the details, and I think we can see progress in the next month or two," the official said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not publicly commented on Trump's announcement, but members of his right-wing coalition have expressed opposition to the deal.
