81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia People's Party Held at Monas, Government Provides Free Food

JAKARTA - The government is preparing a People's Festival in the National Monument or Monas area throughout August 17, 2026. The activity was held in conjunction with the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian Independence Day and opened to the public.

Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantoro said the People's Festival would take place from morning to evening. The government has prepared competitions, children's games, entertainment stages, visual performances, and free food for visitors.

"On the same day, August 17, all day from morning to evening, the committee also held a People's Festival in the Monas area," said Juri at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday, July 31.

The jury said the public could come to Monas to participate in various special 17 August competitions. The government also prepared prizes for the competition participants.

"So please let the wider community come to Monas to participate in various typical 17th-century races," he said.

For families with children, the Monas area will also be prepared as a play area. Juri said there were many children's games provided throughout the day.

The government has also prepared entertainment stages for the public. In addition, several performances will be held, including a drone show, video mapping, and fireworks.

"We will provide various entertainment for the public to enjoy entertainment throughout the 17th," said Juri.

The jury said free food would also be provided for visitors who come to the Monas area.

He said that the preparation of the People's Festival was supported by a number of parties, including the Ministry of MSME, the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Ministry of Tourism, SOEs, Danantara, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, and other elements.

The jury also reminded that there would be traffic adjustments around Monas to support independence month activities, including Dzikir and National Prayer on August 1.

The government apologized if the series of activities for the 81st Independence Day disrupted traffic or people's working hours.

The jury said that regional governments, SOEs, and BUMD were also invited to make RI Independence Day celebrations in their respective regions. The activity was asked to continue to pay attention to other public interests.
