Remind Kadin, Prabowo Says Nuclear War Cannot Be Underestimated

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto reminded the business world not to turn a blind eye to the global geopolitical situation. He said that wars in various regions have had a wide impact, including on energy prices and economic stability.

Prabowo made the statement when he received the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Bakrie and the managers of Kadin throughout Indonesia at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday, July 31.

Prabowo said that he had warned business actors from the beginning that the world situation was vulnerable. He said that war was no longer far from national economic interests.

"The world situation, the geopolitical situation, is very, very vulnerable," said Prabowo.

He alluded to the war in Ukraine which started in 2022 and has not ended until 2026. According to Prabowo, the war has the potential to last longer than the Second World War.

"The war in Ukraine started in 2022. In 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, it has entered 2026," he said.

Prabowo said that a war in one part of the world could have an effect on many countries. One of them is on the price of fuel oil.

Not finished with the war in Ukraine, said Prabowo, the situation in Gaza, Lebanon, and the Middle East is heating up again. He also alluded to tensions in the Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran.

"Even the danger of nuclear war cannot be underestimated, both in Ukraine and in the Middle East," said Prabowo.

He also highlighted the Southeast Asian region. According to Prabowo, ASEAN, which has been considered a peaceful zone, is also facing conflicts.

He mentioned the civil war in Myanmar as well as tensions between Thailand and Cambodia. Prabowo said Indonesia would continue to support efforts to achieve peace and reduce tensions.

"We continue to support peace efforts and reduce tensions elsewhere," he said.

Despite the heavy global situation, Prabowo asked the business world not to panic. According to him, Indonesia must remain aware, vigilant, and cautious in its behavior.

"There is no point in us panicking, there is no point in us being afraid. But it also makes us have to be more aware," said Prabowo.

Prabowo said Indonesia is a big and rich country. Therefore, Indonesia must be more wise and not easily provoked in a global situation that is full of pressure.
