Purbaya admits that there is a budget for electric motorcycles, but the value is not yet open.

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa admitted that the government prepared a budget for the development of the electric motor industry in the country. However, he was not willing to open the amount of funds because he was still waiting for the results of the meeting.

This was conveyed by Purbaya after being asked by reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday, July 31. The question arose after President Prabowo Subianto was said to have conveyed plans to build an electric motor industry in the country.

"Yes," said Purbaya when asked about the readiness of the budget for the electric motorcycle industry.

However, when asked further about the amount of budget prepared, Purbaya chose to withhold an answer. He said the figure depends on the results of the next meeting.

"Nah itu tergantung hasil rapat nanti. Saya nggak boleh bocorkan, nanti salah lagi gue," ujarnya.

Purbaya also admitted that he did not know about other discussions that were said to be related to electric vehicles and industries. When asked about the meeting with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the meeting of the Cabinet Secretary with Arsjad Rasjid, he answered briefly.

"I don't know," said Purbaya.

He again said he did not know when asked if the discussion concerned electric vehicles and industries.

Until now, Purbaya has not explained whether the budget will come through a certain ministry, industry incentives, or other financing schemes.

He only confirmed that the funds existed, but the details were waiting for the results of the meeting.
