LPSK Reviews Application for Witness Protection in the TPPU Case of Former Jampidsus

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is currently reviewing the protection application submitted by a witness with the initials FH in the alleged money laundering (TPPU) case.

LPSK Chairman Achmadi said the application was related to a case involving the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), and was still in the stage of review and assessment to identify the level of threat, the importance of the information, and the protection needs of the applicant.

"Regarding the witness FH, LPSK has received a request for protection. Currently, it is still in the process of review and assessment, such as the importance of the testimony and potential threats and/or being in a special situation to determine the protection needs of the applicant," said Achmadi as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 31.

Achmadi explained that LPSK had coordinated with law enforcement since the case of the alleged TPPU of the former Jampidsus was still handled by the Indonesian National Police. As the case was handed over to the Attorney General's Office, the coordination continued to be carried out to support the law enforcement process.

He emphasized that providing protection to witnesses and victims was a mandate of the law. This provision is also strengthened by Article 53 paragraph (4) of Law Number 8 of 2025 concerning the Code of Criminal Procedure (KUHAP), which regulates that protection is carried out by institutions that have duties and functions in the field of witness and victim protection.

According to Achmadi, every application for protection will go through a review and assessment process to ensure that the form of protection provided is in accordance with the level of threat and special situations faced by the applicant as stipulated in Article 49 of Law Number 3 of 2026 concerning the protection of Witnesses and Victims.

"LPSK is ready to provide support to law enforcement officers in order to disclose cases of alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) involving former Jampidsus in accordance with the duties, functions, and authorities as mandated by the provisions of the legislation," said Achmadi.
