Primaverse Targets the Development of Community-Based Carbon Credit Business in Indonesia

JAKARTA - Malaysian company, Primaverse Sdn Bhd, will expand the development of carbon credit business in Indonesia by strengthening collaboration with local communities. The strategy is carried out through a community-based approach that integrates environmental, social, and governance (Environmental, Social, and Governance/ESG) aspects.

Primaverse Sdn Bhd's Business Development Director Mohd Hafiz Bin Mohd Jamil said the development of the company's carbon project is based on forest conservation involving local communities from the planning stage to implementation.

"Our main foundation is the ESG project, because our project involves forest conservation. And yes, we do involve local residents, including in education and social development programs," said Hafiz, quoted Friday, July 31.

According to him, the company is committed to expanding the economic and social impact of the carbon credit business, especially through cooperation with local partners in the education and community empowerment sectors.

"God willing, in the future we will continue to work together with local partners, especially in the field of education and the development of carbon credit companies. Our main goal is to help local communities, because our foundation is ESG," he said.

In the environmental sector, Primaverse runs a reforestation program using local plant species that are adapted to the characteristics of the local ecosystem. The company also develops a community-managed tree nursery and uses technologies such as drones and satellite imagery to monitor carbon absorption.

In the social aspect, the community is involved in various stages of the project, ranging from the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) process, tree planting activities, to the management of nurseries.

In addition, the company organizes entrepreneurship and financial literacy training, forms a village carbon cooperative, and develops a digital program "Tree Adoption" as part of community empowerment.

Meanwhile, in terms of governance, Primaverse implements a reporting system based on mobile applications and blockchain technology to increase the transparency of carbon project management. The company also formed a village institution that plays a role in project management at the local level.

This commitment led Primaverse Sdn Bhd to receive the IDX Channel ESG Award 2025. This award makes Primaverse the first Malaysian company to receive this award in Indonesia for the implementation of ESG principles and the development of carbon credit business.
