Abandoned By Mother And Brother For Maghrib Prayer, A Toddler Died By Drowning In Kediri Hotel Swimming Pool

KEDIRI - Semen Sector Police, Kediri Regency, East Java, handled the incident of a toddler who drowned and died in the swimming pool of a hotel in Kediri Regency.

Semen Police Chief Commissioner Adjutant Siswandi said the incident began when the toddler arrived with his family on Sunday, June 13, at around 18.20 western Indonesia time.

"Furthermore, the victim swam with the victim's father, while his mother and sister went to the prayer room for the evening prayer," he said in Kediri, as reported by Antara.

Moments later, the victim's father went to retrieve the bag that was still left in the car. After picking up the bag, the victim was nowhere to be found.

"Furthermore, the victim's father looked for the prayer room, he thought the victim followed the family who were praying, but did not find him. Then the entire family and hotel employees searched around the pool and at 19.20 western Indonesia time, the victim was found at the bottom of the swimming pool in an unconscious state," he said.

The victim, he said, was immediately evacuated to a hospital in Kediri City to get help. After some time of examination, he was declared dead.

The police chief said he had asked for information from the family and hotel employees. From the report he received, at the location of the swimming pool, there was also an announcement board related to the location of the pool and its age allocation.

However, it is still conducting further investigations related to the incident. In order to determine the cause of death of the victim, the family also asked for an external post-mortem from the medical team at Bhayangkara Kediri Hospital.

"From the family side, they want an external post-mortem to be carried out at the Bhayangkara Hospital in Kediri," he said.

He also hopes that this incident will not happen again, especially if there are small children who swim and must always be accompanied by adults. It anticipates unwanted events.

For further inspection, in the swimming pool area, the police also put up a police line. Unauthorized residents are also prohibited from crossing.
