Get to know the REEV Technology in iCAR V27 that Can Travel 1,200 Km

JAKARTA - Electric vehicles are increasingly in demand because they offer a silent, responsive, and efficient driving experience. However, concerns about limited mileage are still one of the considerations for some consumers, especially when traveling between cities or crossing routes with limited charging infrastructure.

In response to this challenge, iCAR Indonesia equipped iCAR V27 with Golden REEV (Range-Extended Electric Vehicle) technology. This system is designed so that users can still feel the driving characteristics of electric cars, but with more flexibility for long-distance travel thanks to the support of the power plant engine.

Unlike conventional hybrid systems, the 1.5L Turbo Range Extender engine on the iCAR V27 is not directly connected to the wheels. The engine only serves to generate energy to charge the battery, while all the driving power is still channeled by the electric motor.

With this concept, the vehicle still maintains the characteristic of a smooth, responsive, and low-noise electric car. Product Planning Manager iCAR Indonesia Tommy Hermansyah, said the Golden REEV is designed to maintain the driving sensation of an electric vehicle without sacrificing the ability to travel long distances.

"On the iCAR V27, the wheels are always driven by an electric motor so that the driving experience still feels smooth, responsive, and silent like a pure electric vehicle. Meanwhile, the range extender engine works to generate energy when needed, so users can travel further without having to constantly worry about battery power," said Tommy at ICE BSD, Thursday, July 30.

Through this technology, iCAR V27 is claimed to have a combined mileage of more than 1,200 kilometers based on CLTC testing with the support of a 60-liter fuel tank. In pure electric mode, this SUV is said to be able to cover about 200 kilometers (CLTC), so that daily mobility needs can be met without activating the range extender engine.

In terms of charging, the iCAR V27 has supported DC Fast Charging technology which allows the battery to be charged from 20 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes. This ability gives users more flexibility when traveling long distances or using it daily.

To improve driving comfort, iCAR equips the V27 with Advance Suspension Engineering which uses Hollow Cast Aluminum H-Arm. The hollow aluminum component is claimed to be able to reduce weight without sacrificing strength, thus helping to improve stability as well as comfort in various road conditions.

The SUV's driving ability is also strengthened by the Three-Motor True Electric AWD system consisting of a P1 motor generator and electric motors on the front and rear axles. This configuration allows the four-wheel drive system to work optimally, even when the battery capacity begins to decrease.

In addition, iCAR V27 provides nine driving modes, including ECO, Comfort, Sport, Individual, Slippery, Mud, Loose, Uneven, and All Terrain. Various modes are designed to match the vehicle's character with road conditions, from urban use to more challenging terrain.

The ability to cross puddles is also one of the selling points of the V27 through the Wade Mode feature. When activated, the vehicle is claimed to be able to pass through puddles up to a depth of 600 mm with a system that automatically adjusts the torque distribution, power delivery characteristics, and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) settings to maintain traction and stability.

This feature is also supported by 540° Transparent Chassis technology which allows drivers to see the surface conditions under the vehicle in real time, as well as Automatic Braking Drying which functions to dry the brake discs after crossing puddles so that braking performance remains optimal.

In terms of performance, the iCAR V27 produces a combined power of up to 335 kW or equivalent to 455 PS with a maximum torque of 505 Nm. This SUV is claimed to be able to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. This performance is combined with a 50:50 weight distribution and a True-AWD electric system to provide more stable control.

"Through the combination of Golden REEV, Three-Motor True Electric AWD, and various driving modes, we want to present an SUV that is able to adapt to the diverse needs of Indonesian users. Whether used as a daily vehicle or to explore more challenging routes, iCAR V27 is designed to continue to provide responsive performance, optimal traction, and a typical electric vehicle driving experience in various conditions," added Tommy.

iCAR assesses that REEV technology is an electrification solution that can combine the efficiency of electric vehicles with the flexibility of conventionally powered cars for long-distance travel. The concept is also in line with the philosophy of "Classic Never Fades", which combines classic SUV design with new energy vehicle technology.

During the implementation of the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, visitors can see the iCAR V27 directly at the iCAR Indonesia booth located in Hall 8, ICE BSD City, from July 30 to August 9, 2026. At the event, consumers can also pre-book and obtain information about specifications, Golden REEV technology, and ownership programs offered.
