KPK Detains 4 Suspects of Corruption in PT Pelni and Jasindo Insurance, the State Loses Rp15.6 Billion
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained four suspects in alleged corruption related to the payment of insurance commissions for shipping owned by PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) by PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Jasindo) for the period 2015-2020. The forced effort was carried out after they had completed their examination on Thursday evening, July 30.
"The four suspects were detained for the first 20 days, from July 30 to August 19, 2026 at the KPK Red and White building branch detention center," KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters, Thursday, July 30.
The four suspects who were detained were Untung Hadi Santosa as the Director of Marketing and Corporate PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Persero) from December 2013 to October 2018; Eko Yuni Triyanto as the Risk Management Manager of the Enterprise Risk Management & Research and Development Bureau of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) from 2012 to May 2015; Yohanes Priyo Iriantono as the Director of PT Inovasi Vahana Indonesia from 2015 to 2020; and Zulchaibar as Commissioner of PT Nusantara Proteksi Mandiri.
"Investigators have detained four suspects in the alleged corruption case related to the payment of commissions for maritime insurance owned by PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) by PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Persero) in 2015-2020," he said.
In this case, Budi said, the four suspects were suspected of committing acts against the law related to the maritime insurance work of PT Pelni which was carried out by direct appointment to PT Jasindo. "The total contract value for 2015-2020 is IDR 263 billion," he said.
"Where, based on the calculation by BPKP, has caused a loss of state funds of Rp. 15.6 billion," continued Budi.
Meanwhile, Zulchaibar after being examined did not say much. He and the three suspects were taken to the KPK Detention Center around 20.40 WIB.
"We obey the rules if we are detained," he said after being examined and wearing an orange jumpsuit.
"I don't have anyone and I just say what it is, there are no secrets."
As a reminder, the KPK is investigating two corruption cases related to PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (Persero) or Jasindo. The first alleged corruption is related to the payment of commissions by PT Jasindo in 2017-2020.
The second corruption case is related to the payment of commissions to the shipping insurance owned by PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) from 2015 to 2020. The details of the service are marine hull insurance or insurance guarantee for sunken, overturned, and burned ships from the hull and contents of the ship as well as wreck removal and pollution insurance or insurance guarantee for the removal of sunken ships and marine pollution.
