Jared Leto Denies Sexual Assault Allegations in BBC Documentary

JAKARTA - Actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars vocalist Jared Leto has strongly denied all sexual violence allegations made by a number of women against him in the latest BBC documentary.

The Oscar winner emphatically stated that the allegations that dragged his name were completely unfounded and never happened in his life.

The documentary titled "Jared Leto: Hollywood's Darkest Secret" details the confessions of ten women who claim to be victims of Leto's unpleasant actions.

Surprisingly, four of them revealed that the incidents of harassment and violence occurred when they were minors.

In the documentary, one of the women revealed that the Dallas Buyers Club film star allegedly sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17.

The second woman claimed that Leto had threatened to commit sexual violence when she was 19 years old. The third victim recounted her experience having sex with Leto in California when she was 17 years old.

Meanwhile, the fourth woman admitted to receiving obscene phone calls repeatedly when she was 16 years old, in which Leto allegedly asked for sex.

All the victims who appear in the documentary claim that a series of incidents occurred between 2002 and 2016. During that time, Leto was at the peak of his career.

In response to the wave of accusations, Jared Leto's representatives released an official statement to deny all claims made in the BBC documentary. Leto presented his defense directly and frankly.

"I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life," Leto said in his official statement, quoted by Variety, Thursday, July 30.

"These allegations are absolutely and categorically untrue," he said.

On the other hand, the BBC insists that they are not arbitrary in airing the testimony of the victims. The British public broadcasting institution stated that it had carried out a strict verification process.

They confirmed that a number of victim confessions had been verified through the statements of families and close relatives who had been informed of the incident when it took place. In addition, examinations were also carried out on supporting evidence in the form of photos and short messages that strengthened the claims of the women.

The emergence of this documentary extends the line of accusations of indecent behavior that leads to the actor. Last year, DJ Allie Teilz made sexual violence allegations against Leto through social media by claiming that the actor harassed him when he was 17 years old.

The report triggered further investigations by the Air Mail media in June 2025, which revealed similar testimonies from a number of other women. In the report, Jared Leto also emphatically denied all allegations.
