Fire Burns 8 Aspol Houses Behind Jambi Police Headquarters

JAMBI - A massive fire hit the Police Dormitory (Aspol) complex behind the Jambi Police Headquarters, located at Jl Jenderal Sudirman No. 45, Tambak Sari Village, Jambi City.

ANTARA's monitoring on the ground, eight units of houses in the dormitory were burned, with the flames quickly getting bigger due to the strong wind blowing so that it burned down the building which was mostly a permanent house.

The incident immediately attracted the attention of residents and road users. A thick black cloud of smoke was seen rising high from the scene.

Residents of the police dormitory and residents around seemed panicked and tried to save valuable items that could still be evacuated.

A number of fire brigade vehicles from the City of Jambi along with police personnel were immediately deployed to the location to carry out the fire. The officers struggled to tame the fire so that it did not spread to other houses.

"Until now, the extinguishing process is still ongoing," said one of the officers at the scene, Thursday, July 30.

It is not yet known for sure what caused the fire or the amount of losses caused. Until this news was released, there was no official report on any casualties in the incident.

The police are still conducting data collection on the affected houses and investigating the cause of the fire.

As a result of this incident, the area around the location was crowded with residents who witnessed the extinguishing process, so that traffic flow around Jalan Jenderal Sudirman was crowded.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Police, Kombes Erlan Munaji, said that his party would immediately investigate the cause of the fire incident.

"The fire was successfully extinguished by the Jambi City Damkar team plus one fire truck from the Jambi Police Brimob," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Jambi City Fire Service, Mustari, said the fire could only be extinguished several hours later by lowering several fire trucks plus one Brimob fire truck.

For the cause of the fire, the Jambi City Damkar Service is still investigating on the ground and the main thing is that there were no casualties but only material losses in the incident.
