Depok, Sukabumi, And Cianjur Disentil KPK On The Transparency Of Social Assistance

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminded 3 regional governments in West Java Province about transparency in the distribution of social assistance (bansos) in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The three areas that were identified by the KPK were Depok City, Sukabumi Regency, and Cianjur Regency.

The warning was a response to a number of information and was confirmed by the three regions. Each local government acknowledges that there is a misconception among the community regarding this social assistance.

"The public thinks they will receive social assistance from all sources, both central, provincial and district / city. This happened especially at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak," said the Head of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for Regional V Prevention Coordination of the KPK, Budi Waluya, through his written statement, Wednesday, May 13.

This assumption raises suspicion because the public considers the distribution of social assistance to be not transparent.

"However, the three regional governments ensure that this understanding has been straightened out by continuing to disseminate information to the public," he said.

As a result of this incident, the KPK asked the three regional governments in West Java Province to immediately verify and validate the data.

After that, the regional government was asked to communicate openly with residents regarding data on social assistance recipients. This must be done to reduce problems that arise in the middle of the distribution of the aid.

To avoid irregularities in the implementation of social assistance, the KPK also reminded local governments to continue to coordinate with regional auditors and law enforcers regarding the distribution mechanism.

In connection with Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS), the KPK said that Depok City last updated its data in January 2020 with the number of beneficiaries totaling 78,065 families.

The city of Depok has allocated APBD funds for handling COVID-19 for three focuses, namely health care of Rp. 30 billion, for economic recovery of Rp. 8.1 billion, and for the provision of a social safety net of Rp. 60 billion.

Sukabumi Regency last renewed the DTKS in December 2019. Overall, the number of beneficiaries based on DTKS reached 486,402 families.

The reallocation of the Regional Budget carried out by Sukabumi Regency for handling COVID-19, namely health care of Rp. 115 billion, for economic recovery of Rp. 14.7 billion, and for the provision of a social safety net of Rp170 billion.
