OTT Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro Allegedly Related to Project Procurement and Sale of Positions

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) in the Jakarta and Central Java regions, Tuesday night, July 28. It is suspected that there is a practice of buying and selling positions to give money related to the procurement of projects involving Pemalang Regent Anom Widyantoro.

"There is a suspicion of acceptance made by the regent related to the sale and purchase of positions in the Pemalang Regency Government," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, July 29.

Budi said a total of 21 people were secured in the silent operation. "Five people were secured in Jakarta, 15 people were secured in Pemalang, and one person was secured in Purworejo," he said.

Of these, 12 will be taken to Jakarta for further examination at the KPK's Merah Putih building.

"Five of them who were secured in Jakarta have now been examined at the KPK's Merah Putih building. For the other seven people, six from Pemalang and 1 from Purworejo will arrive this afternoon ... for further examination," said Budi.

In addition to securing 21 people, including Anom, the anti-corruption commission also found money in the silent operation.

"A total of more than Rp2 billion," said Budi.

"Currently, Anom is at the anti-corruption commission office. He is the person who was secured in Jakarta," said Budi.

Later, the KPK will decide the fate of Anom and dozens of others who were netted in the OTT. The construction of the case and the articles suspected of being charged will be discussed in the case title or expose forum.

"Whether it is later the construction of the case is bribery or extortion related to projects in Pemalang Regency, of course it will be explained and discussed in the expose."
