Prabowo Appoints Praja IPDN: People Don't Need a Complex Bureaucracy

JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the state apparatus should not apply bureaucratic red tape to the public. According to him, the state apparatus must always prioritize public interests in order to maintain public trust.

Prabowo conveyed this message in front of the 33rd Angkatan Pamong Praja Muda (PPM) of the Institute of Internal Government (IPDN) which was inaugurated on Wednesday, July 29.

On that occasion, Prabowo emphasized that the PPM is a state apparatus that has the obligation to maintain the country's good name.

Therefore, he advised that the good name should not be tarnished just because they were unable to prioritize the interests of the people, one of which was by implementing a bureaucratic system that was layered.

"Our people don't need a bureaucratic mess. Our people don't need leaders who don't work as well as they should," said Prabowo.

He added that the public actually demands that the apparatus be able to work honestly, disciplined, clean, not corrupt, dare to make decisions, and always be present when the people need it. The public, continued Prabowo, also demands an apparatus that prioritizes the interests of the people, not the interests of certain individuals or groups.

Therefore, he said that being a Pamong Praja is a heavy task. Because, from their attitude and integrity, the public can assess whether the state is really present and able to hold the people's trust.

"The people will feel whether the state cares about its people or not. And from your decisions, the people will judge whether the state is trustworthy or not," he explained.

Therefore, Prabowo asked the PPM to work as best as possible.

According to him, if they always put the interests of the community first, then the community will increasingly trust and love Indonesia. On the other hand, if they disappoint the people, it not only tarnishes their good name, but also damages the people's trust in the country.

"Wherever you are on duty, remember, you are the face and symbol of the country. From your attitude, from your appearance, the people judge whether our country is present or not, whether our country is orderly or not, whether our country is proud or not, whether our country is a respectable country or not," he explained.

Prabowo then advised that integrity should be maintained considering that the PPMs are the future leaders of Indonesia. They are expected to be able to work clean and well in line with Indonesia's dream of becoming a developed and modern country.

"Therefore, you must be the best leaders. You are the drivers of the bureaucracy of the government, the determinant of the success of development in the field," he concluded.
