Janice Tjen reaches the DC Open 2026 quarterfinal

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's tennis player Janice Tjen has managed to step into the quarterfinals of the Mubadala DC Open 2026 doubles event which took place in Washington D.C., United States.

Janice Tjen, who paired up with Chinese player Shuai Zhang, secured a ticket to the last eight after defeating the pair of Kamilla Rakhimova/Fang Hsien Wu in two straight sets 6-3 and 6-4 on Tuesday local time or Wednesday, July 29, 2026, morning WIB.

Tjen/Zhang took an hour and 13 minutes to dispatch Rakhimova/Wu in the hardcourt tournament that is part of preparations for the US Open, the last Grand Slam tournament in the annual calendar.

As the third seeded pair, Tjen/Zhang immediately appeared aggressive from the start of the match. They briefly took the first game before Rakhimova/Wu tied the score.

Tjen/Zhang then found momentum again and was ahead 3-1. Despite receiving resistance from the opponent, the Indonesian-Chinese pair was able to maintain the lead until closing the first set with a score of 6-3.

The dominance of Tjen/Zhang then continued in the second set. They managed to secure the first two games to lead 2-0 over Rakhimova/Wu.

Rakhimova/Wu briefly narrowed the gap to 1-2. However, Tjen/Zhang again got away and even increased the lead to 5-1.

Despite being far behind, Rakhimova/Wu still tried to give a fierce fight. They were able to grab a number of games in a row to narrow the gap to 4-5.

However, Tjen/Zhang did not lose focus. They finally secured the next game to grab the second set 6-4 and also ensure a two-set victory.

In the last eight, Tjen/Zhang will meet Kato Miyu/Giuliana Olmos. Kato/Giuliana got a ticket to the quarterfinals by sending Tereza Mihalikova/Heather Watson through a super tie-break 1-6, 6-1, and 11-9.
